AES served as the project developer for Power4Georgians, a six6 member consortium of Electric Membership Cooperatives in Georgia. AES assembled and managed oversaw a team of professionals in engineering, environment, real estate, business, regulatory law, environmental law and government and community relations in order to obtain permits to build and operate an 850 MW coal-fired power plant. ting to include state of the art technology and environmental protection.
AES developed an 850 MW coal-fired plant in Washington County Sandersville, Georgia. The project was designed to burn a 50%/50% mixture of Illinois and Powder River basin coals. The Air Quality Control System (AQCS) was state of the art making the plant the most advanced air and water permitted plant in the country.
